sections:

Back to Top
Categories
In order to find a certain Category, use the search field, or click [all]. The Categories List will open;
this list shows 10 Categories per page. View other pages of Categories by selecting the desired page from the drop-down menu at the bottom of the list.

To add a new Category, click Add New Category. Enter the Category’s Name and Description, set its Sequencer, and [optionally] upload an Image. When done, click Add Category.

In order to Edit a Category, click the corresponding Edit icon of the desired Category. This screen has a similar layout to the Product Edit page.
A Thumbnail may now be uploaded for the Category. As well, two additional Images may be added to the Category. The thumbnail will display in the Category Listing; it will also be used as a link to the Category (Product Listing) page.
To create a unique Category Header, save changes to the Category form and then click Edit Header.
The following window will open:
The Category Header can contain plain text or HTML mark-up. If it is left empty (blank), then nothing will display. If text or HTML is entered, then the standard Category Header in the Category display page will be replaced with the content of this field. Click Save Changes when completed. Use Lookup to select and then edit other Category Headers.
Make sure that the Category is marked Active in order for it to appear on the site.
Enabling Show at Base Level allows the Customer to see sub-Categories at the Base, or Main Category, level on the website.
There are 2 Category Types: Standard and Product Grouping. Standard Categories are typical groups of similar products. Product Grouping, however, is an invisible group of items and will not appear on the site. A certain brand that offers numerous types of products can be grouped with Product Grouping, and these products can be put on sale.
Click Displays as a sub category to display the Category as a sub-category. This Category may be maneuvered into its appropriate rank within a main Category by using the Category Mapping section.
Finally, activate the Restrict Category view to logged-in Customers option to allow only logged-in Customers to view the Category. Activate the Restrict Category's child Product(s) order to logged-in Customers option to allow all Customers to view the Product, but only logged-in Customers can order Products and see the pricing options within the Category. These two restrictive options affect this Category's subcategories and their respective Products as well.
